I practice a brief, solution-focused psychotherapy for several of life's challenges including:
Jane is an experienced therapist working with individuals, couples and families struggling with mental health as well as substance abuse issues. Her approach with clients is to set realistic goals and guide them through the process in a positive, empathetic, and solution-focused manner. She has had 15 years experience in the mental health and substance abuse field, including three years at Hazelden.
"I’ve been in the mental health and substance abuse field for over 15 years. I obtained a BS degree in psychology from Smith College in Massachusetts. My Master’s degree is from Springfield College in Massachusettes with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. I am a certified alcohol and drug therapist as well as a licensed marriage and family therapist in Wisconsin.
I was a clinical intern at Hazelden, one of the most respected private alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers in the world. I then worked for Hazelden in Chicago for two years before moving to Madison, Wisconsin. I have extensive experience with dual/diagnosis treatment with adolescents and adults. I’ve worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals as well as outpatient clinics over the past 14 years.
I work with children, adolescents and adults. My specialty has been Family Therapy and Substance Abuse. This includes helping couples work through their issues and in many cases helping children deal with substance abuse in their famiy.
In many ways I feel my work is like “coaching” individuals to get them “unstuck” from their current situation. I feel every client has the ability to grow emotionally and feel better about themselves, but that it is up to them to begin the process. I work with them to begin this journey. My therapy is brief, and solution-focused, and unique to each client's individual needs."
The practice I provide is for a variety of life's difficulties including:
