My coaching practice is based upon my 15 years experience in the substance abuse/mental health field. I have been a therapist at Hazelden in Chicago, as well as many other respected outpatient clinics/facilities in New England, Madison, WI and the upper Midwest.
What I like about this style of coaching is that I can offer my extensive experience as a therapist and use it to 'mentor' a client to help them make more positive choices. I work with each client by setting realistic milestones and attainable goals for the weeks ahead. It is a more personalized, intimate approach to helping clients achieve more positive results on their recovery journey.
My personal philosophy grows and changes over time. I have always believed in a person's ability to be 'one's own therapist' once the door has opened to hope and the possibility for change. Every client is unique, thus every session is geared toward the client better understanding him or herself in a safe and empathetic environment.
I know that most people have struggles at times, but that the process of understanding that struggle can be as important as the result. I feel every client has the ability to grow emotionally and feel better about themselves, but that it is up to them to begin the process. I work with them to begin the journey.
My approach with clients is to set realistic goals and guide them through the process in a positive, empathetic, and solution-focused manner.
My work is brief therapy and solution focused. Each client is unique so each plan is individualized.
